Restaurant chain posts Keg-sized sales rise in second quarter

Keg Restaurants Ltd.'s total system sales jumped 14.4% for its second quarter, which ended July 1, 2007. Sales hit $104.9 million compared with $91.7 million in the same period in 2006.

Sales hit $104.9 million compared with $91.7 million in the same period in 2006. The increase was driven primarily by an 11% rise in same restaurant sales in Canada and a 5.4% increase for U.S. Keg restaurants.

The steakhouse chain's consolidated restaurant sales were up 9.7% for the quarter, despite the continuing negative impact of a record high Canadian dollar.
