Vancouver's Rainmaker Entertainment Inc. (TSX:RNK) reported a 41% revenue increase to $8.7 million in its second quarter, which ended June 30.

The Vancouver animation studio's second-quarter revenue in 2007 was $6.2 million. Rainmaker said the increase was due primarily to more animation production work in its DVD division and on feature films.

Net loss for the quarter fell to $1.3 million from $2 million, even though expenses increased because of higher production volumes in its animation division.

The company recently reconverted to a corporation after operating as an income trust since 2002.

Rainmaker's share price range during the past week: between $2.15 and $2.39; 52-week high: $2.98; 52-week low: $2.02.
