Revenue for Digital Dispatch Systems Inc. (TSX:DD.TO) fell 22% to $4.3 million in its current second quarter compared with $5.5 million in 2006's second quarter.
The Richmond company, which specializes in media and management software for taxis, attributed the revenue drop in part to the strength of the Canadian dollar against the dollar in the United States, where the company does most of its business.
Combining the decrease in revenue with a 22% increase in year-over-year operating expenses, Digital reported a net loss of $1.2 million for the three months ending June 30, compared with earnings of $8,000 for the same period last year.
Digital strengthened its European presence in 2007's second quarter by signing a contract with Europe's largest taxi company, based in Paris. It also received a new order from an existing customer in Copenhagen.
