Research in Motion Ltd . (TSX:RIM) has landed Canada’s first Randstad Award for most attractive employer in Canada.

Research in Motion Ltd. (TSX:RIM) has landed Canada’s first Randstad Award for most attractive employer in Canada.

The announcement was made Thursday at the 2011 Randstad Awards in Toronto, which brought more than 150 of Canada’s largest companies together under one roof to celebrate their success in becoming Canada’s strongest brands.

The award recognizes companies considered to have the best employer brands. Winners were chosen by more than 7,000 workers and job-seekers in Canada.

The top five companies in Canada were RIM, IBM Canada Ltd. (NYSE: IBM), McGill University, Air Canada (TSX:AC.A) and Bombardier Inc. (TSX:BBD.B)

"It's exciting to see Canadians recognize companies that focus on the future," Jan Hein Bax, president, Randstad Canada, said in a press release.

"RIM, IBM, McGill, Air Canada and Bombardier each have such an influential impact on our day-to-day lives, and will continue to shape our future, here and around the world, through technology, transportation and education.”

RIM scored high for being a company that offers a pleasant work atmosphere, career progression and quality training, as well as strong management, best salary and interesting job content.

According to Randstad Canada , the most important factors job-seekers look for from an employer, in order of highest importance, are: a pleasant work atmosphere, a high salary, job security, good work-life balance and interesting job content.

This was the first year for the Randstad Awards to come to Canada.
