International mobile phone users will now be able to use their phones in Prince Rupert following the completion of a $10 million expansion of Rogers Wireless' network.
The expansion, which includes Prince Rupert and surrounding communities, uses the GSM network standard that's employed by 80% of the world's cellphone market.
The network is available in Prince Rupert and Terrace and will be expanded to Prince Rupert's airport by May 2008. By this summer, it will be available along Highway 16 from Prince Rupert to Prince George.
The system can be used by international visitors from more than 200 countries.
