The BC Securities Commission (BCSC) will be one of four provincial securities regulators reviewing the proposed merger of TMX Group Inc. and the London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG).
The two stock exchanges announced today that they had filed applications with provincial securities regulators in Ontario, Quebec, Alberta and B.C.
BCSC has not yet announced the process it will follow for the review and was not available for comment by press deadline.
The Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) this morning announced a notice and request for comment on the application, noting that the application raises significant policy issues that are important to market participants and the Ontario capital market.
The OSC is seeking input on all aspects of the application in “determining whether it is in the public interest to make the requested orders approving the beneficial ownership of the LSEG of all the common shares of TMX Group and amending and restating the recognition order for TMX Group and TSX Inc.”
After a 45-day comment period ending June 29, the OSC will hold a public consultation, slated for mid- to late-July.
