Port Coquitlam’s Sequel Naturals is eliminating its carbon footprint.
On Tuesday, the company, which specializes in health food products, announced that it had signed a deal with Bullfrog Power that would see Bullfrog inject renewable electricity onto the regional grid to match the amount of power Sequel Naturals’ head office uses.
“As a triple bottom line company, we are always on the lookout for new and innovative ways to reduce our impact on our planet,” said Charles Chang, president of Sequel Naturals.
Bullfrog’s so-called “green” electricity is sourced from regional wind and hydro power plants.
Sequel Naturals did not say how much the program would cost.
“We’re excited about this new partnership,” said Chang, “and we’re confident that choosing green power is a significant step toward achieving our mission to create an industry-leading, sustainable and fulfilling company
Business in Vancouver last caught up with Chang in 2009 when the then 39-year-old was named Top Forty Under 40 award winner for transforming his natural-food company into a $14 million business. (See “Charles Chang” – issue 1053, December 29, 2009 to January 4, 2010.)
