Vancouver-headquartered Sierra Systems Group Inc. has acquired Calgary's RIS Inc., a provider of applications support and maintenance services.
Founded in 1979, RIS employs more than 250 staff and 350 subcontractors. Its acquisition will expand Sierra's presence primarily in Calgary and Toronto, but also in Regina, Edmonton and in the U.S. and Bucharest, Romania, where RIS has an office.
Golden Gate Capital, which bought Sierra Systems earlier this year, said the deal will help expand both companies, which share similar corporate cultures and track records and have complementary services.
Effective January 1, 2008, RIS will operate under the Sierra Systems brand.
