A large majority of Canadians do not trust corporate claims of carbon neutrality, according to a new Pollara poll due for release next week.

Only 1% of Canadians strongly trust carbon neutrality claims, versus 57% who say they do not trust corporate claims. According to Pollara, a polling agency, consumer distrust arises from companies continuing to do business as usual and purchasing carbon offsets to bolster claims of carbon neutrality. The survey is part of a new report by Markets Initiative that polled 2,271 Canadian adults from November 9 to November 13, 2007.
