National Hockey League (NHL) Hall of Fame defenceman Denis Potvin has skated into Vancouver’s bustling junior mining sector.

On Tuesday, Touchdown Resources (TSX-V:TDW), a gold explorer focused on Northern Ontario, said Potvin had joined its board of directors.

In addition to pointing out Potvin’s NHL record, which included four Stanley Cups from 1980 to 1983 as captain of the New York Islanders  and three Norris Trophies for best defenceman, Touchdown highlighted his post-professional sports financial career.

Potvin’s has held roles as a commercial real estate broker for Cushman Wakefield in New York and as a financial adviser for First Capital Advisors and Raymond James.

These days, Potvin is a hockey analyst for Rogers Sportsnet and a director of Toronto-based Eloro Resources (TSX-V:ELO).

"Denis’ business experience and proven success throughout his professional career will be of great value to shareholders as the company focuses its efforts on advancing its gold projects in Northern Ontario," commented Touchdown president Richard Macey.

The company has also offered a 1.1 million incentive share purchase option to its directors and consultants, exercisable at $0.14 per share.

At press time, Touchdown’s stock was unchanged at $0.14.
