Canadian employers expect to be hiring extensively this summer, according to the latest results from the Manpower Employment Outlook Survey.
About a third of the more than 1,700 Canadian employers surveyed said they plan to hire more staff in the next three months.
The survey reported that Western and Atlantic Canada had the most pressing need to hire new staff because of the continued demand for construction workers.
Durable goods manufacturers reported a 13% drop in employment demand compared with the same period last year due to industry challenges created by the Canadian dollar exceeding 30-year highs.
