TD Canada Trust launched its new open-concept design in Richmond, the latest of the big banks to update the look and functionality of its branches in Canada.
The Richmond Centre branch, near Brighouse Canada Line station, boasts a large open entry space, digital displays, web kiosks for TD Waterhouse customers and a community wall highlighting area community projects.
TD spokesman Jeff Meerman said TD will be renovating a number of branches each year to the new design and any new branch location in B.C. will incorporate the new layout.
Other banks have recently unveiled plans to upgrade their branches in B.C. BMO Bank of Montreal opened its own state-of-the-art branch in North Vancouver in August.
RBC also announced last fall that it would be revamping its branch design to provide a more interactive experience for customers.
Among the credit unions, Coast Capital Savings was one of the first to totally redesign its branch layout. It rolled out the aperio store design back in 2005 that introduced the open layout look for financial institutions.
