Vancouver's Telus Corp. (TSX:T) has won a contract with the City of Vancouver to provide the city's new IP telephony system and contact centre suite.
The $7 million contract will support the city's telecommunication services for city hall, the Vancouver Public Library, the parks board, the city's fire and police departments and the city's new 311 Contact Centre.
The contact centre, to be launched in mid-2009, will give residents a single number to call to inquire about the city's non-emergency services.
Full implementation of Telus' contact is expected to be completed in 2011.
Telus' share price range during the past week: between $39.64 and $41.31; 52-week high: $58.95; 52-week low: $37.30.
