Telus union ratifies collective agreement

Vancouver-based Telus (TSX:T, T.A; NYSE:TU) announced this morning that the Telecommunications Workers Union membership has ratified a new collective agreement with the company.

Vancouver-based Telus (TSX:T, T.A; NYSE:TU) announced this morning that the Telecommunications Workers Union membership has ratified a new collective agreement with the company.

“I am pleased the agreement was endorsed by our team members across Canada,” Telus president and CEO Darren Entwistle said in a press release.

“This is great news for Telus, our team members and our customers, enabling us to focus on the continued execution of our strategy, including answering the challenges our industry’s highly competitive market presents.”

According to the TWU, 2,146 members voted in favour of the agreement, 514 voted against it, and 18 ballots were spoiled.

The new agreement, covering approximately 12,100 Telus employees nationally, takes effect tomorrow and expires Dec.31, 2015.

At press time, Telus’ stock was up $0.39 to $54.49.
