Vancouver tourism promoters are launching a new mountain music festival to stimulate business and mark the second anniversary of the 2010 Winter Olympic Games.
The Vancouver Hotel Destination Association (VHDA) is partnering with Grouse Mountain, Cypress Mountain, Mount Seymour, the Yaletown Business Improvement Association, the Adelphia Group, Live Nation, Blueprint Events, the Museum of Vancouver and Telus World of Science to launch the first City and Slope festival.
City and Slope will be a four-day festival that runs February 9 through 12 and pairs opportunities to ski at a discount with the chance to watch both ice carving and music events.
Attendees can buy passes that give them a 20% discount on all three of Metro Vancouver’s nearby mountains, admission to events such as snowboarding and ice skating and a 6,000-person concert featuring DJ Benny Benassi at the Vancouver Convention Centre.
Organizers expect the festival to grow in size to be a 10-day festival by 2015.
