Richmond-based Digital Dispatch Systems Inc. (TSX:DD) has landed a $2.15 million deal with Michigan's Suburban Mobility Authority for Regional Transportation (SMART) to provide a management system for the authority's para-transit fleet.
The order for Digital Dispatch's iPilot 8000 mobile computers for SMART's fleet in Metro Detroit includes a five-year service and maintenance contract.
SMART was looking for a new management system to streamline its operations and improve communications with drivers and provide a more efficient reporting and record-keeping system. It runs a fleet of 650 buses and various community shuttles operated by local community partners.
The SMART deal follows Digital's entrance into the South African market to provide mobile computers for a South African taxi company.
Digital Dispatch's share price range during the past week: between $2.35 and $2.75; 52-week high: $4.10; 52-week low: $2.25.
