The University of British Columbia’s MBA program ranks second in Canada and 24th in the world, according to the 2011-12 Beyond Grey Pinstripes, a biennial survey conducted by the U.S.-based Aspen Institute that evaluates leadership on social, environmental and ethical issues. Two years ago, UBC ranked 49th worldwide.

UBC offers its MBAs through the Robert H. Lee Graduate School at the Sauder School of Business.

The Stanford University Graduate School of Business ranked No. 1 overall, while Canada’s York University ranked No. 2. and I.E. University in Spain ranked No. 3.

No other B.C. university was listed in the list of the top 100 programs.

The Aspen Institute analyzed submissions from 149 schools from 22 countries.

This is the first survey by the institute since the global economic meltdown to assess how MBA programs are helping students come to terms with the current volatile economic and social landscape that business leaders face.
