Boston, Massachusetts-based UFood Restaurants Group (OTCBB: UFFC) (UFRG) is expanding into British Columbia with a franchise for the development of 10 UFood Grill locations in the province, UFRG announced this morning.
The company has granted the franchise agreement to ASA Capital Alliance, UFRG announced. The first restaurant is scheduled to open in Vancouver by April.
“I am proud to bring UFood’s better-for-you quick-service model to Canada,” ASA CEO Zaid Al Chalabi said in the release.
“Like Americans, Canadians are also focused on nutrition and health. UFood is a perfect solution for those with busy lifestyles who care about eating well.”
According to the release, ASA focuses on operating high-quality food establishments in the Vancouver metro market, with ASA principals currently operating two Casba restaurants in North Vancouver.
“[Chalabi’s] proven success with the Casba restaurants and his drive to introduce healthy affordable food alternatives to consumers make him and his organization the ideal partner for UFood to expand into British Columbia,” UFRG CEO George Naddaff said in the release.
Calls to UFood were not returned by press deadline.
