A Delta company that makes power suppliers and converters is getting ready to meet a recent order for its product by the U.S. Army.

Analytic Systems makes the power supply units used to power portable weapons surveillance systems used by the U.S. military.

The systems can be carried on a soldier’s back and are used to detect incoming artillery fire. Analytic Systems makes a power converter used to power the units, converting AC power from utilities or generators to a DC current.

“We’re the magic box in the middle,” said Bill Walker, vice-president of sales and marketing for Analytic Systems.

The company makes a range of power converters. It has been making converters for the U.S. Army since 2005.

“Seventy per cent of our business is for the U.S. military,” Walker said.

The recent order is for 80 new units. The latest model that Analytic will be selling to the U.S. Army have been improved to reduce electromagnetic noise.

The company is also working on an order for the Canadian Armed forces. It will be making power supplies and battery chargers for Canadian military communications shelters.
