Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is embracing technology to become as efficient as possible when it comes to managing its staff.
The health authority reached a deal with New Zealand-based Emendo Ltd. for software that allows it to determine when six of its hospitals are busiest and need staff the most, Robin Abrey, Emendo’s director of business development for Canada, told Business in Vancouver August 11.
Emendo completed a pilot project with VCH last year. (See “Health care efficiency rises” – issue 1076; June 8-14, 2010) Darcia Pope, VCH’s executive director of transformation, told BIV the software rollout would cost about $2.8 million and pay for itself within two years.
“It’s a significant deal for us,” said Abrey. “It’s a tender that is open to any health authority in B.C. to take advantage of.”
Emendo also went through a pilot project last year with Fraser Health. Abrey is hopeful that health authority will be similarly interested.
