Vancouver company lands contract to build new engineering building at UBC Okanagan

Dominion Construction, a division of Vancouver's Seacliff Construction Corp. (TSX:SDC), has been awarded a $50 million construction management contract to build the new engineering and management building at the University of British Columbia Okanagan campus in Kelowna.

Construction is scheduled to begin in this year's fourth quarter; completion is slated for late 2010.

The 186,000-square-foot building will house lecture theatres, classrooms, research labs and office space. It's partially funded by the provincial government, which is providing $40 million of the project cost.

The building is part of a $100 million government contribution to expand UBC Okanagan's facilities.
