A division of Vancouver's Seacliff Construction Corp. (TSX:SDC) has won a $47 million contract to manage the electrical construction of Edmonton's new $620 million remand centre.

The contract is the largest for Seacliff's electrical and communication contracting division, Canem Systems, which was founded in 1960.

Electrical work on Edmonton's new remand centre project is scheduled to begin in 2008's third quarter and run through to 2011. The centre will house up to 2,000 people in custody and alleviate the overcrowding at Edmonton's existing remand centre.

Seacliff Construction went public in late April 2008 and owns Dominion Construction and Canem Systems.

Seacliff's share price range during the past week: between $12.33 and $12.50.
