The Vancouver Convention and Exhibition Centre is the first repeat winner of the "World's Best Convention Centre" award from the International Association of Congress Centres (AIPC).
The bi-annual award was presented at an AIPC conference in Singapore in early July. The VCEC was selected from a group of 18 finalists from around the world. It won the award for Best Convention Centre in 2002.
The award is based on a comprehensive customer satisfaction analysis. Clients provide survey responses in a number of service areas ranging from initial sales contact, event management, and customer relations to technology, food, beverage and the building facility itself.
Expansion of the VCEC, which has been dogged by significant delays and cost overruns, is expected to be completed in spring 2009. It will triple the facility's size.
