Vancouver-headquartered Peer 1 Hosting Inc. (TSX:PIX) has opened a new US$40 million data centre in Toronto.
The 40,000-square-foot facility will become the company's flagship data centre which will offer the company's co-location, dedicated hosting and managed hosting from one site. It is Peer 1's 17th data centre worldwide.
The facility will host four separate performance-optimised data centres, or PODs, with each POD having the capacity for roughly 7,500 servers. The first POD cost US$10 million and uses 7,500 square-feet of data centre space plus 8,000 square feet of office space and storage areas.
The remaining three PODs will be built out in future phases based on customer demand.
