More than 500 tourism professionals are attending Western Canada’s largest travel trade show – the 24th annual Canada’s West Marketplace – at the Vancouver Convention Centre this week.

The show brings together B.C. and Alberta tourism suppliers with buyers from 16 countries.

The show is funded largely by the B.C. and Alberta governments to help tourism operators showcase their products to representatives from key international markets.

“This marketplace provides an incredible opportunity for us to match tourism businesses in our region with proven international travel wholesalers and receptive operators,” Dave Petryk, CEO of Tourism Vancouver Island, said in a release.

More than 14,000 10-minute appointments are expected to be conducted at this year’s event.

The trade show alternates between B.C. and Alberta locations each year.
