Vancouver miner Alderon Iron Ore Corp. (TSX:ADV) has recruited popular former Newfoundland premier Danny Williams to be a special adviser to the company’s chairman, Mark Morabito.
Alderon is developing the Kami iron ore project in the Labrador Trough, off the coast of the province that Williams governed between October 2003 and November 2010, when his government had an 80% approval rating.
Alderon expects its Kami project to provide significant economic benefits to Newfoundland and Labrador, including the creation of more than 1,500 full-time jobs over 20 years.
“[Williams] will be an incredible resource for us in the months and years ahead as we advance our Kami project, strengthen our reputation with the province and continue to work to distinguish ourselves as a leading corporate citizen in Newfoundland and Labrador,” Morabito said in a release.
