Vancouver pizza parlour income fund posts higher third-quarter profit

Boston Pizza Royalties Income Fund (TSX:BPF.UN) reported a 17.5% increase in net earnings in its third quarter ending September 30, 2008. Earnings for the Vancouver company rose to $5.5 million from $4.

Boston Pizza Royalties Income Fund (TSX:BPF.UN) reported a 17.5% increase in net earnings in its third quarter ending September 30, 2008.

Earnings for the Vancouver company rose to $5.5 million from $4.5 million in the same period last year due to strong sales from the 298 restaurants in its royalty pool.

Franchise sales increased to $170.8 million from $156.1 million.

The restaurant chain, however, was suffered from the slowing economy. It reported same-store sales growth of 0.3%, down from 6.6% in 2007's third quarter.
