Summer travellers seeking cheap flights are increasingly considering Vancouver as a destination, according to the Edinburgh, Scotland-based online travel agency Skyscanner Travel.

Skyscanner ranks world cities on how frequently visitors to its website search for flights to that destination.

Vancouver jumped from the 99th most searched destination in June to the 89th most searched destination in July.

Two Indian cities were the only destinations that enjoyed a bigger surge of interest than Vancouver. New Delhi climbed 17 spots to No. 61 on Skyscanner’s list of its 100 most-searched-for destinations while Mumbai improved 11 spots to No. 64.

Three Commonwealth destinations tied Vancouver by jumping 10 spots each:

Capetown (down 22 spots to No. 98) and Johannesburg (down 13 spots to No. 58) took the biggest falls as South Africa’s 2010 FIFA World Cup came to a close.

The three Spanish cities of Malaga, Alicante and Palma ranked first, second and third, respectively.
