Maximizer Software Inc. (TSX:MAX) recorded a net loss for its third quarter ending August 31 due to increased costs and lower revenue.

Maximizer Software Inc. (TSX:MAX) recorded a net loss for its third quarter ending August 31 due to increased costs and lower revenue.

The customer relationship management software company's quarterly net loss hit $448,000 compared with a profit of $256,000 in 2006's third quarter.

Maximizer cited a 6% drop in quarterly revenue and a 15% increase in operating expenses as the main reasons for the loss.

Revenue fell to $4.1 million compared $4.3 million and operating expenses rose to $3.6 million compared with $3.1 million in the previous year's third quarter.

The Vancouver-based company is considering going private. Company chairman, Terence Hui, is interested in buying up Maximizer's minority stakes. Hui and his family own roughly 69% of the company, and Hui has said he's willing to pay $0.135 per share to buy out the remaining shareholders.

Maximizer's share price range during the past week: between $0.115 and $0.125; 52-week high: $0.13; 52-week low: $0.055.
