Vancouver's Urban Communications Inc. (TSX-V:UBN) has completed its acquisition of Connect West Networks Ltd., the Internet service provider for 1,850 student residences at Simon Fraser University's Burnaby campus.
Urban Communications is expected to improve Internet service and network infrastructure for SFU's residences using Urban's fibre optic network, which can deliver service of up to 1,000 megabits per second. Students will be able to transmit data over the internal SFU network at 100 megabits per second for research and other applications.
Urban Communications issued a combination of shares and cash to buy Connect West.
