2010 Olympic Winter Games tickets will go on sale in October 2008.
Ticket sales, however, will go through a three-phase process. In the initial October 2008 to early 2009 phase, people interested in buying tickets will need to fill out an application form. At the end of the application period, events that have been oversubscribed with ticket applications will go through a random lottery to distribute the tickets.
In Phase 2, from early to mid-2009, any unsold tickets will be made available to those who did not fill out an application. Any remaining tickets will then be sold through Olympic venue locations and other official ticket sellers.
Roughly 1.6 million tickets will be available for all Olympic events in Vancouver and Whistler, including the nightly victory ceremonies at B.C. Place and Whistler and the Cultural Olympiad.
About 250,000 tickets for the 2010 Paralympic Winter Games will made available starting in 2009.
The Vancouver 2010 Olympic Organizing Committee will begin selling event tickets in the U.S. through the U.S. Olympic Committee's exclusive ticket agents Jet Set Sports and its affiliate CoSport.
According to VANOC, more than 100,000 tickets will be available for $25, and half of all Olympic event tickets will be priced at $100 or less.
Further information about events and tickets will become available on the VANOC's www.vancouver2010.com website.
