Victoria and Ottawa to invest $231 million in B.C. highway improvements

The province and the federal government have announced they will invest up to $231 million in B.C. highway improvements over the next five years. Most of the funding has been earmarked to improve sections of Highway 97 in the Okanagan Valley.

The province and the federal government have announced they will invest up to $231 million in B.C. highway improvements over the next five years.

Most of the funding has been earmarked to improve sections of Highway 97 in the Okanagan Valley. A new nine-kilometre four-lane highway will be built between Winfield and Oyama to replace a two-lane section of Highway 97. The province will contribute $44.3 million and the federal government will provide $33.6 million for the $77.9 million project.

Other improvements will be announced in the coming weeks.
