The province and the federal government have announced they will invest up to $231 million in B.C. highway improvements over the next five years.
Most of the funding has been earmarked to improve sections of Highway 97 in the Okanagan Valley. A new nine-kilometre four-lane highway will be built between Winfield and Oyama to replace a two-lane section of Highway 97. The province will contribute $44.3 million and the federal government will provide $33.6 million for the $77.9 million project.
Other improvements will be announced in the coming weeks.
