Vancouver's Westport Innovations Inc. (TSX:WPT) has received its largest commercial order of its heavy-duty liquefied natural gas engines.
California's HayDay Farms, a hay brokerage company for the dairy and beef cattle industry, has ordered 20 heavy duty Kenworth trucks powered by Westport's high-pressure direct injection LNG engines.
HayDay said it bought the trucks to mitigate rising fuel costs. With Westport's engines, the company's trucks will have the same power and efficiency as diesel engines, but fuelled by natural gas.
