Vancouver-based Yaletown Venture Partners’ (YVP) focus on cleantech investments has helped lure a new partner who has a keen interest in that emerging investment area.

Salil Munjal has now joined the nine-year-old venture capital company and will serve alongside founding partners Hans Knapp, Mike Satterfield and Kirk Washington.

Munjal’s arrival from Toronto comes mere months after YVP launched its second venture fund – a $110 million pot of money that is about three times bigger than its first fund, launched in 2002.

“There have been some small initial investments made from Fund No. 2, although the vast bulk of the capital has yet to be deployed,” Munjal told Business in Vancouver.

The fund has also made recent investments in the information technology companies Partnerpedia and Indicee.

“The investments range from being in the hundreds of thousands of dollars to being in the millions of dollars,” Munjal said.
