Australia’s former Labour Party prime minister Kevin Rudd is embarking on a new career following his defeat in last year’s election.

He is setting up a foundation to give continuing honour to the principles of his historic 2008 apology for past treatment of Australia’s Aborigines.

Rudd will chair the National Apology Foundation, which was launched in Sydney and will have the “mandate to ensure the apology remains in the national memory in the future.”
