Forty of Australia's brightest and best undergraduates have been awarded scholarships this year to live, study and work in Japan, Indonesia, Singapore and Hong Kong under the Canberra government's New Colombo Plan. The students are seen as ambassadors for Australia among key neighbouring countries. But, said Education Minister Christopher Pyne, “these students will go on to be leaders in our community, in business and in government and will take their experience from their New Colombo Plan scholarships into these important areas.”
