Australia has always had to battle isolation at the bottom of the world and has an honourable history of dreaming up clubs of nations that would connect it to other countries. The Asia-Pacific Economic Co-operation (APEC) forum was one such. But APEC got taken over by Washington. The same has happened to the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), another Aussie idea. But to add injury to insult, Trump is now dumping the TPP. “Not so fast,” say many voices Down Under. “What’s wrong with a TPP of 11 countries without the U.S.?” Stay tuned.
