When international agencies give aid to a country for development projects, it is not always clear if the money gets to where it was intended or if the best use is made of it.
Bangladesh, which receives about $1.5 billion a year in humanitarian and development aid, plans to dispel concern by setting up an online tracking system for incoming aid.
Called the Aid Information Management System, the program will allow stakeholders, including development partners and civil society organizations, to follow the money through the process, from commitments through disbursements to spending by both donors and the local implementers.
