Burma's organization that vets foreign investment applications, the Myanmar Investment Commission (MIC), could have its discretionary powers curbed.

Burma's deputy minister of national planning and economic development, Khin San Yee, said the government wants to simplify the foreign investment process and reduce the powers of the MIC. The current regulations accompanying investment laws are hazy and give the MIC too much discretion to block investments or impose requirements.
