Burma’s temple city, Bagan, has been named the world’s second-best city tourist destination by Britain’s Wanderlust travel magazine. Bagan was built between the ninth and 11th centuries, covers 26 square kilometres and houses more than 3,000 Buddhist temples. Bagan, which is expected to soon be named a UNESCO World Heritage Site, came second to the city of Luang Prabang in Laos. Burma, also known as Myanmar, came ninth in the league of top country destinations for tourists. Burma has dropped from first spot in 2013, largely because its tourist infrastructure development has not kept up with visitor demands.
