China’s economy may be on a downward slide, but that has not as yet put a damper on business travel. The Global Business Travel Association reports that last year travel by Chinese business people grew by nearly 16%, more than twice the country’s overall economic growth. The association says that even with the relatively low growth rate of 7%, China is still outpacing most other countries. It expects business travel growth to be even larger this year – 18% – and spending to be well above last year’s $262 billion. China is expected to overtake the United States in late 2016 as the world’s largest business travel market.
