China is expanding the number of industries it wants to shrink because of excess manufacturing capacity. Until now, drives to cut capacity have focused on coal and steel. But at a recent meeting of the ruling Communist party Politburo, President Xi Jinping called for several other industries to “better adapt to the changes in demand.” High on the list is China’s wind and solar power generation systems production.
