New Zealand is rushing into the vacuum created by Canada’s abandonment of its immigrant investor program, which became overloaded by wealthy Chinese applicants.
Deep-pocketed Chinese have now become New Zealand’s largest source of immigrants. New Zealand’s “Investor Plus” category allows those who invest the equivalent of just under $10 million over a three-year period to gain residency. Applicants don’t need business experience or the ability to speak English. Applicants in the “Investor” category need only invest between $1.5 million and $10 million, but must speak English.
