British Columbia Premier Christy Clark departed November 21 for the BC Jobs and Trade Mission in Asia, leading a delegation of more than 120 organizations, including educational institutions and private-sector companies.
The premier will visit China, Korea and Japan on the tour, which will conclude December 3. The provincial government said the key objectives of the trip are to enhance B.C.’s relationships with these countries and to advance liquefied natural gas (LNG) development opportunities.
“Trade missions are an important way to share B.C.’s competitive advantages with our international partners so that B.C. businesses and communities share in the benefits,” said Clark.
“As we develop LNG and seize economic development in every corner of the province, these partnerships and strategic outreach will mean more economic growth and jobs here at home.”
The premier and delegates will tour an LNG plant in Beijing and meet with trade ministers and executives in Korea and Japan.
