India’s Commerce and Industry Minister Anand Sharma says the country needs to create 100 million skilled manufacturing jobs by 2022.
Sharma said India must raise manufacturing industries’ share of the gross domestic product to 25% from 16% in order to boost exports and ensure economic sustainability.
There has been a decline in India’s manufacturing sector in recent months, which has contributed to the slowdown in the country’s growth rate to only 6% last year.
