The arrival of the new Indian government of Prime Minister Narendra Modi with its mandate for economic reform has made the country’s exporters jittery. Since it came to power in May, the new government has not announced a new foreign trade policy, and ministers are considering trying to end uncertainty by committing to stick with current programs until the end of the year. Of particular concern to exporters is the fate of export incentive schemes that give them a competitive edge in the global market.
