A survey of 100 British companies with enterprises in Indonesia has found a sharp drop in their overall confidence in the business climate in the Southeast Asian nation.

Confidence fell from 83% last year to 60% now in the survey conducted by the British Chamber of Commerce in Jakarta. The outlook remains positive for the regulatory and legal environments for business. The major concern is declining confidence in the political environment ahead of elections scheduled for July next year. Confidence was lowest – 22% – among British mining companies.
