The political honeymoon of Indonesia’s new president, Joko Widodo, has been short and rancorous. Now he finds himself in the middle of a dispute between the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) and the National Police. Senior KPK official John Budi has criticized the president for “not doing anything” as all four of the commission’s directors have been named by the police as suspects in a number of cold cases. The allegations are seen as retaliation by the National Police after the KPK named police chief candidate Gen. Budi Gunawan as a suspect in a graft case.
