Japan’s second-largest bank, Mizuho Bank, has been caught up in the litigation surrounding Mt. Gox and the alleged theft of half a billion dollars worth of customers’ Bitcoin digital currency.

Mizuho was added as a defendant to the existing lawsuit in the United States and Canada against Mt. Gox, which closed shop in late February and three days later filed for bankruptcy protection.  Mt. Gox claims hackers breached its security and stole $567 million worth of the virtual currency. Mizuho is claimed to have held non-Bitcoin currency on behalf of Mt. Gox and its customers.
