Japan is to draw up regulations aimed at stopping hotels, restaurants and department stores lying in their menus and on food labels.
A senior government official said dishonest menus and labelling have become so prevalent they "could fundamentally undermine consumer trust."
Common deceits are serving defrosted fish even though the menu says it's fresh, selling processed beef while claiming it is steak and falsifying the origins of produce.
